IPM Integrated Pest Management
No herbicides or pesticides are used in school gardens. Our gardens focus on native perennials, shrubs, and trees which support native insects. Compost is periodically added to the gardens. A goal is to plant densely without overcrowding to reduce the number of weeds and invasive species.
The gardens are well balanced and "good bugs" keep the "bad bugs" under control.

Energy Saver Mode and Saving Energy
All school computers have been reprogrammed to automatically default to the energy saving mode after 10 minutes of inactivity.
All staff members are encouraged to shut down computers and turn off electronics at the end of the day.
Many teachers turn on only one classroom light switch to save energy in the classroom.
