"Turn Off the Lights!" Reminder Contest
All students had the opportunity to participate in the Turn Off the Lights design contest to encourage energy conservation in every classroom in the school. Green Team members chose the design that best illustrated the energy saving theme. The reminder is hung next to each light switch in our school.

Tree Plantings
Many trees have been planted on our school campus by students, the Mt. Airy Garden Club, and Brownie and Daisy troops. These native trees will grow to shade the building and provide shady areas for students and teachers during outdoor activities.

Saving Energy
Many classrooms have a "job" assignment for a student to turn off the classroom lights. Students love taking turns for the responsibility of saving energy!
First Grade Cave Days!
Once a month, teachers in first grade have an energy efficient "cave day". Instruction continues at full power, but without impacting the environment. Teachers and students enjoy learning in the no lights atmosphere on this special day!
